Today\u2019s food production and consumption have been shifted from their culturally and socially embedded systems towards a system disconnected from local ecological and social systems. In order to meet the needs of present and future generations, it is essential to accelerate a transition towards more sustainable food and agriculture systems that can simultaneously provide economic and social opportunities, while protecting the ecosystems upon which agriculture depends and respecting the cultural and social diversity of territories.
